Zac's Picks for Avy and Backcountry Survival Gear
Following many requests from our students, Zac’s Tracs has started to carry a selection of avalanche airbags, avalanche rescue tools and backcountry survival gear. We’ve chosen carefully, from a variety of manufacturers, gear that we believe to be useful, reliable and fairly priced.
Our company’s mission is to raise the bar on the level of avalanche safety within our snowmobile community. While our main focus will always be education, a new secondary focus is to provide effective gear for avalanche and backcountry survival.
To be truly prepared all sledders need a COMBINATION
of high quality gear and training.
You’ll find that our pricing is very competitive with Canadian retailers. Register early for Zac’s training programs and you may receive credits that you can use in our Store!

What's coming up for 2011-2012?
Keep in touch to learn about new gear coming for the 2011-2012 season.
Here is a quick example: The Pieps TX600 transmitter is intended to be a secondary frequency that can be fastened to dog collars, snowmobiles and other important items.
Once all people have been recovered from the slide area the Pieps DSP can be switched from 457kHz frequency to 457.600 to receive this alternate signal.
With a simple software upgrade, current model Pieps DSP transceivers can be updated to receive this special frequency.

Many people are concerned about the chance of a second avalanche releasing onto the rescuers during the search effort.
The TX600 increases safety and saves time.
Packs and sleds are valuable. Priced less than $150 the TX600 is a good investment.
By simplifying the search for sleds, packs, dogs and other valuable equipment we can reduce the time spent hanging out in potentially unstable avalanche paths. Searching with probes and metal detectors works, but it is slow and exhausting.
Some sleds are not found and their owners are forced to abandon them.
Owners (and their finance companies!) gamble that they will be the first people to get in after the spring thaw to recover their investment. Better plan a long hike or an expensive helicopter ride. Some of these areas are not motorized zones once the snow melts.
Do the math and contact Zac’s to order. There will be pre-season specials. If you have already invested in the DSP transceiver, simply send in your current model and we will update the software at the same time.
